Canadian ash tress are under attack from an invasive, non-native wood boring beetle–The Emerald Ash Borer. This beetle bores into ash trees and feeds on the tissues beneath the bark, eventually killing the tree. With no known natural enemies, the Emerald Ash Borer has already killed millions of ash trees throughout Canada. Sadly, the ash tree now faces the possibility of extinction. My goal for this piece was to preserve both the destruction and the beauty of a Canadian ash tree for the future.
